This fragrance-free, high-performance gel-to-foam formula is specially formulated for tight coils. Achieve a balance of definition, hydration, and flexible hold while helping support the overall health of your hair and scalp
How to use:

Generously apply the gel to soaking wet hair, distributing the product evenly from roots to ends. For wash & go’s, shingle or finger coil for maximum definition. For braid-outs & twists, thoroughly work the product into each section until the gel foams to avoid any product residue. For best results, diffuse or sit under a hooded dryer until completely dry before separating or fluffing the curls, twists, or braids (tutorial here)

She had a few pieces in the front that were slightly straighter due to mechanical damage, so we used our gel and a couple of extra small flexirods to set the affected pieces. She sat under a hooded hairdryer, and then once completely dry, we picked her hair out for a little bit of volume.

Product FAQ's

Before using the gel, ensure the hair is wet, clean / freshly washed, and product-free. This gel-to-foam is best used without a leave-in, but if old habits die hard, we recommend pairing it with a lighter leave-in that doesn’t contain heavy butters or oils like shea butter or coconut oil so that the hydrating ingredients like Aloe Vera can actually penetrate!

Apply a generous amount of gel to soaking wet hair, combing the product through the hair (use a brush like the Unbrush or a Denman brush) to evenly distribute product from root to tip.

For max definition wash-n-go’s, use your fingers to shingle / finger-rake the product through small sections of your hair to & ensure curls are clumped and defined appropriately

For twists or braids, ensure the product is evenly distributed and has fully dried before attempting a twist-out or braid-out

Dry your hair with a hooded dryer or hand-held blow dryer with a diffuser attachment and ensure your hair is fully dry from root to tip before fluffing.

Yes, but instead of applying it generously, begin with a small amount of product and add more as needed to maintain more volume in your finished look.

Grainular is vegan and cruelty-free. We only test on consenting adults - no animals involved!

If you notice any irritation, please immediately stop use of the product and wash it out. We always recommend thoroughly reviewing the Ingredient Glossary and patch-testing the product on a small area before applying to  your scalp.

Yes. While we did not test our product on pregnant women, our product does not contain any high concentrations of active ingredients that are advised to avoid during pregnancy and our founder has worn Grainular throughout her entire pregnancy! However, we recommend consulting with your doctor before introducing any new products or ingredients into your routine while pregnant or breastfeeding. Our bottle is 50% PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) plastic. We don’t have a brand-specific recycling program, but we recommend checking with local recycling programs to confirm what's recyclable in your area.

Our product is manufactured and our bottles are filled in the USA. We use a combination of American and foreign-sourced ingredients, and our bottle is manufactured in China.

Of course! We have to use preservatives in order to prevent bacteria and other microorganisms from growing, especially since we have a water-based formula.

    My New Fave

    Great one and done product styling gel! Gives me elongation and definition which is what I look for most. It still looks so good after seven days that I get tempted to push off wash day a couple more. Since its only one gel it also shortens the amount of time versus when I use a base gel first then a topper.

    My new go to gel product!

    I’m genuinely loving the Grainular Hair Gel!

    The lightweight formula gave my 4C coils definition without feeling heavy or crunchy, and the best part… NO flakes at all. The marshmallow root made the gel super fluffy and easy to distribute through my hair, which made styling so much smoother. I’m also obsessed with the gel-to-foam activation — it melts right into my curls. Finally, a gel that lets me style my coils without needing 1000 different products and steps.

    OBSESSED!!

    I LOVE this gel! I always style my tight thick coils with strong gels but have struggled with flakiness, bad ingredients, or not enough hold. This gel does all of that - beautiful and defined curls with a strong hold to make my wash & go last long. I love that I can just use this one product for styling which makes wash day so much faster. The clean ingredients also make a huge difference since I've been trying to prioritize hair health and growth. So excited to keep using it & will definitely be repurchasing!
